A "meh" attempt. My focus had shifted between the time I actually achieved focus on a nearby star (Alkaid) and the my rig slewed to M51. Anyway, 6 minute exposures here because the site I was at had enough light pollution to produce unwanted artifacts during post-processing. Or I fork out some dosh for a light pollution filter, but having just bought a new Jeep, the financial officer may take issue with another personal purchase.

Well, despite the issues with the light pollution, I think this is a good image. Maybe you could explain to the CFO that purchasing an LPF will help the environment. :o)
