My Son's First Astrophoto

My nine year old son came out with me last night to shoot some astrophotos. We picked the Moon as our target. He helped me set up the scope, including setting up the polar alignment and GOTO, and he did a great job! He centered the stars during each round, and we got a great alignment!

So, this is his first astro photo! He worked the settings of the camera, made sure the Moon was in focus, and took several photos. This morning, he chose the best photo, and I taught him how to process it in GIMP. Here is the final result!

Very good work, and I bet he will be taking great photos of galaxies very soon!

Nikon D7000, AstroTelescopes 80mm ED Refractor, Celestron CGEM equatorial mount.

Oh, that's amazing (and quite impressive, too)! It's very nice that he's interested in astronomy, I started studying it when I was a little older than him and those were some of the greatest moments of my life :)
